I don’t play golf.
I wouldn’t know a ‘bogey’ (Humphrey Bogart?) from a ‘flag on the play’ (I think that’s football?)! So, why am I writing about golf in a Strategic Leadership and Career Transformation Blog?
This past Sunday afternoon, I was cooking (three pots on the stove and a chicken on the grill). My husband was chopping vegetables and the TV was on low while we were cooking and enjoying a sunny afternoon.
Then – everything seemed to go silent for a few seconds and my ears tuned into something I heard from a character on the television who was quietly stating:
The movie was The Legend of Bagger Vance and Vance was trying to persuade the protagonist to focus mind, heart and body, and to truly believe in his incomparable ability.
In those moments, I was in a state of suspended animation: “the slowing of life processes by external means without termination.” In that flash of clarity – my breathing, heartbeat and four of my five senses ceased for a moment.
If you are considering whether to play golf or to transform your career, start by knowing that there is a ‘right’ career for you. You just need to get out of your own way, recognize your talents, research, prepare, plan and let the career find you.
One of my best friends is thinking about ‘What’s Next’. If she reads this post, I want to tell her that she should trust that she already knows ‘What’s Next’ and it will find her.
Questions for you to consider:
- Is there a perfect new, second or revised career out there for you?
- Are you ready for career transformation to find you?
