    Human Resource Management Tips Blog Series Part 2 – The Importance of a Regular Employee Performance Review


    You have worked really hard to form the best staff possible in order to make your workplace as effective as it can be. This blog is part two of a three part series that will give you some tips about how to keep your employees happy, engaged, and performing at their peak. Human resource management can be a complex system, but if you have the right tools in hand it doesn’t have to be that tough. However, hiring the best talent is sometimes easier than keeping them performing at their best.

    When you hire and train a new employee, you are typically going forth hoping for the best. So how can you maintain a high level of performance? Regular employee performance reviews are so important if you are intent on keeping your employees motivated and working hard for you and your company. As a critical component of any human resource management policy, employee performance reviews provide an invaluable resource for both you and your workers.

    So what are the benefits of an employee performance review? There are plenty, and no human resource management platform is complete without one. One of the most important benefits to conducting an employee performance review with each staff member is that it gives you (or the employee’s manager) the chance to sit down and talk through any issues or concerns that may exist, as well as to provide feedback on the job being done. Employees are often curious about how they are performing, and so a regular employee performance review provides the setting for them to find out.

    Conducting regular employee performance reviews are also a great time to let staff members know when there is potential for personal growth as far as promotions within your company. This way you may be able to gauge their level of involvement, determine their future goals within the company, and let them know that their work has been recognized. It also motivates them further.

    Conducting an employee performance review is also a great opportunity to provide employee recognition, a prime employee retention strategy. Giving an employee a chance to hear that you appreciate the work they do each day and that you value their commitment to your company makes them feel significant. If an employee does not think that anyone notices their hard work, they may feel less inclined to continue performing, and so letting them know that what they do is important helps to eliminate this.

    Furthermore, an employee performance review allows you to establish new goals for each staff member. Giving each employee new objectives to strive towards and providing a challenge, helps to keep them engaged. An engaged employee is one whose work will only benefit from consistent attention and the knowledge that someone is interested in their future success.
