Are America’s unemployed preparing for their target jobs when they eventually become available? Since 2008, a large number of Americans have been searching for a job with no success, and many of them have given up. This disappointment unfortunately translates into a feeling of depression and unproductivity.
Some common trends among job seekers include:
1) Reading “want ads”
2) Preparing their resumes
3) Meeting with a recruiter
4) Taking courses to improve their skills (if they can afford to)
5) Asking about available job openings
6) Responding to “help wanted” signs at retailers or restaurants
Landing the job is by far the most challenging part. All of the aforementioned job searching strategies only focus on finding the job rather than landing it. For more than 22 years, I have worked in organizations accused of employment discrimination. In working in these environments, I was able to determine the “secret” to getting a job or a promotion. No one expects a person who can’t find a job to be happy, however they could lead a productive pre-employment life by using a new career preparation strategy called Missing Information Analysis© (MiA©). The secret is learning more about the target job, the company, and the selection process, than the competition. MiA© is a coaching strategy that teaches prospective employees how to collect information about their target job, their target company, and the selection process they will encounter. MiA© helps the unemployed identify their target job and land it.
I invented the Advance Your Career coaching service, which is offered over the telephone by text or voicemail. Job seekers who sign up for this service learns all of the secrets to employment success – including how to gather and use the missing information needed to land a job. The mobile coaching service includes a resume builder and interview techniques and is believed to be the only coaching program on the market that truly works in helping the unemployed land a job!
