    The Secrets of Incredible Leaders


    Metrics, ROI, growth, economy, the bottom line, these are all top of mind concerns of leaders in today’s workforce. However a great leader knows that focusing on the human element of business and employee engagement is just as important in creating a thriving and successful business. Emotional intelligence (EQ) has become a key component to great leadership. Employees are your greatest assets and not having the emotional intelligence to correctly gage and lead your employees accordingly will ultimately lead to a disengaged workforce.

    There are some other important factors that contribute to every great leader. We’ve named five qualities that are essential to great leadership.

    1.       Optimistic Attitude: Emotions are contagious. Leverage this opportunity to create a positive synergy of emotions from your workforce. Failure should not be in your vocabulary and no matter the roadblock or obstacle finding ways to spin things in a positive light keeps your employees engaged and motivated to move forward.

    2.       Inspire Through Action: A great leader knows that ‘monkey see monkey do’ and acts accordingly. Your team needs to see that you have a clear vision and confidence. Motivating leaders believe in what they can offer regardless of challenges. Although your team may see that your passion is feigned in tough times if you crumble they’ll crumble.

    3.       Accountability: Respected leaders demand accountability. They don’t beat around the bush and are clear on who is responsible for what. They ask difficult questions up front and weigh the ups and the downs making a decision with a few things in mind, including; who is responsible for overseeing the project and what are the metrics of success or failure.

    4.       Are Present: Great Leaders are present and engaged, they are not distracted by cellphones, instant messaging, or their surroundings. They give whomever is in front of them 100% attention and respect everyone’s time. They are able to move from one situation to the next without bringing past issues or concerns to the present situation.

    5.       Leverage Employees Skill Sets: True leaders understand that ‘the person who tries to do everything, accomplishes nothing”. A great leader is not a micromanager and never tries to juggle all the balls.
    Surround yourself with a strong base of talent and leverage their skill sets accordingly. Give your employees autonomy at the work that has their interest at heart and you’re on your way to success.
