SHRM 2012 Features Companies with an Edge in the Hiring Process
    Lauren Smith
Ascendify is back in San Francisco from an exciting extended weekend at SHRM 2012! We loved sharing our social recruiting platform with hundreds of tech savvy HR folks, discussing the importance of talent communities and the future of social recruiting. Throughout the show, we met a few key companies that we feel are truly leading the way in social hiring.

Whole Foods Market has adopted the popularity of posting pictures on social media sites with their photo stream on Flickr. With hundreds of vibrant pictures of handcrafted signs, events and delicious food, this company knows how to excite potential candidates. These pictures reinforce the company’s value of quality food, while also sharing the lively corporate atmosphere.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car has a career Facebook page that rocks! Their energetic cover photo really caught our attention. It shows a group of their employees having a great time in front of one of their locations, which screams, “Come join our team!” If that’s not enough to spark some interest in job seekers, they have a window in their career portal that scrolls through fun-loving employee profiles. They also showcase the company’s longstanding legacy through historical milestones in an interactive timeline.

Shutterfly equals Pinterest perfection! We can’t get over the company culture presented via their Pinterest! With 31 boards and 2,473 followers, Shutterfly captures the creativity in the workplace with every pin. The “fan-curated” boards expose the overall community surrounding Shutterfly. Who wouldn’t want to work for a company with so much customer support?

Prudential has a career page that allows candidates to meet some of their employees with videos instead of customary written reviews. Clicking on “meet some of our employees” tab automatically plays videos from ten different employees working in a variety of departments. This is an easy way to share employee testimonies and catch the attention of top candidates.

Does your organization have a great careers portal that offers a stellar candidate experience? Let us know in the comments.

Ascendify is a new social recruiting platform that builds talent communities for enterprise organizations, allowing them to hire referrals through the social connections of their existing employees. Talent communities are the best way to recruit Millennial talent, aged 19-29 – the way they prefer to be contacted, through social talent communities.
