Canada’s largest criminal record, employment and volunteer background checking firm, BC-based BackCheck has been acquired by US-based Sterling Infosystems.

Combined, the two companies have become the largest provider of background checking services in North America.

The first Canadian company to deliver background checks online, BackCheck has more than 400 employees in Surrey (BC), Montreal, the UK and the Philippines. BackCheck serves more than 60 of the Financial Post 100. Customers are 80 percent corporate / 20 percent non-profit.

With a customizable, online delivery model, BackCheck’ s service negates the need for Canadians to visit their local Police Department for most criminal record checks – which used to take days, if not weeks. Turnaround is typically 24 hours.
