The Institute for Healthcare Consumerism’s FORUM East conference help businesses boost productivity and save on insurance claims through corporate wellness initiatives

ATLANTA, Mar 5, 2012—Employee wellness programs have been around for decades. In addition to yielding fewer sick days, increased productivity and happier workers, they result in a hefty reduction in the number of insurance claims filed by employees. On April 12 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, some of the nation’s top employee wellness professionals will offer timely advice on how to integrate cost-saving wellness initiatives into corporate health and benefits budgets. The “Population Health Management Multi Stakeholder Panel” is one of five general sessions at The Institute for HealthCare Consumerism’s (IHC) two-day FORUM East conference.

Ray Bachman, health care consumerism advocate and president of leading Atlanta-based insurance provider BIS Health Benefits, agrees that wellness programs are one of the most effective ways to cut health care expenses immediately. “Seventy-five percent of insurance claims are a result of lifestyle,” remarked Mr. Bachman in a recent interview for the IHC’s HealthCare Consumerism Radio. “If you can reduce this, you’re saving money.”

Moderated by PriceWaterhouseCoopers Managing Director Donald Weber The FORUM’s multi-stakeholder panel features some of the industry’s foremost wellness thought leaders, including:

“Healthy employees mean lower health care costs. It’s a no-brainer,” says <a href="http://www.hrmarketer.com/site/manager/%5C%22http://www.fieldmedia.com/%5C%22" target="\"_blank\"">Doug Field, IHC founder and CEO. “We’re proud to have assembled some of the key voices in employee wellness for FORUM East this year. It’s the only place where C-level executives, HR professionals and other key health care decision makers can come together to get expert advice on putting these cost-saving programs in place.”
