Top Learning and Knowledge Sharing Issues Identified During Webinar on Modern Mentoring

More than 250 people attended a January 17 webinar on modern mentoring, co-hosted by Triple Creek , the leader in enterprise mentoring and structured social learning software, and leading research firm Brandon Hall Group, generating data around two critical issues about mentoring and knowledge sharing.

When asked where they believed coaching and mentoring would have the greatest impact in their organization, 73% of attendees said it would be equally important at the executive, manager, and individual level. Only 3% said the executive level alone, 13% said the manager level alone, and 11% said the individual level alone.

“This finding is pretty much on par with what we see from our clients,” says Randy Emelo, President and CEO of Triple Creek and one of the webinar’s co-presenters. “Savvy organizations today know that mentoring and knowledge sharing can have great positive impacts on employees at all levels in the company, and they are beginning to search for and implement broader technologies that can reach people at all areas of the enterprise.”

Attendees were also asked to identify their top learning and knowledge sharing issue for 2012, choosing from a list of five options.
* 35% chose “Expand knowledge sharing to entire workforce”
* 27% chose “Connect mentoring and learning to organizational goals”
* 19% selected “Increase employee engagement”
* 10% selected “Set vision and goals for enterprise knowledge sharing”
* 9% chose “Reduce costs for collaboration and learning”

“As these results show, learning and development leaders continue to strive for ways to expand knowledge sharing to all employees, and they understand the importance of connecting their initiatives to organizational goals in order to have the deepest impact on the workforce and the greatest support from the C-suite,” says Michael Rochelle, Chief Strategy Officer for Brandon Hall Group and the other co-presenter at the webinar.
