Intuition or Science? Fazoli's Restaurant Relies on PeopleAnswers' Data-Driven Methodology
In 2009, Lexington, KY-headquartered Fazoli's embarked on a strategy using PeopleAnswers to assess job candidates in an orderly and deliberate way to select only jobseekers whose behavioral traits best match its key positions. About 40 percent of Fazoli's entire workforce, which spans approximately 230 restaurants serving Italian food in 26 states, participated in the initial program. Candidates who became employees were tracked from the point of hire enabling the organization to interpret meaningful before-and-after impact on retention and other key metrics.
"One of the things we noticed," says Bev Givens, director of human resources for Fazoli's, "is that the restaurants that participated decreased their employee turnover by about 49 percent."
Judging by that statistic, it seems that science wins over intuitive "gut feeling" when it comes to hiring decisions.

After a year using PeopleAnswers to assess and hire restaurant employees, how would Fazoli's fare in the first official hire/termination study?
As stated above, Fazoli's was convinced that knowing which behaviors to look for in a job candidate would lead to more successful hiring decisions than human intuition ever could. After the deployment of PeopleAnswers, Fazoli's collected hire and termination data for one year. Would the company's faith in behavioral science pay dividends?

PeopleAnswers 2011 Client Conference: Greatest Ever?
Another PeopleAnswers Client Conference is in the books and 2011 will be remembered for several milestones. First, the conference was the best attended yet with a large, diverse group of companies sharing their valuable time and energy. Second, we had the most client representation on the stage, with 26 client participants sharing their knowledge and experience in talent management. Rich Evans, a new client attendee from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, said that one of the benefits of the conference was “to expand my understanding of the PeopleAnswers capability…not just the assessment, but the onboarding piece, the development piece.” Heartfelt thanks to every client representative who shared valuable insights on those topics—among many others—and gave the audience great “nuggets of wisdom” to take home.
It won’t be long before we start planning for another great event in 2012. To pre-register, please contact Darcy Molyet at dmolyet@peopleanswers.com.
News and Updates
Best Fit 1.1 for Integrated Clients
This enhancement to the new and popular Best Fit feature (first deployed in Summer Release 2011), supports those accessing PeopleAnswers from an integrated ATS. The feature is now accessible through a new icon (in the shape of a puzzle piece) on the assessment report. By clicking on the icon recruiters and hiring managers can quickly determine whether a candidate is a fit for another role that they did not directly apply for. You start by defining the criteria for success (i.e., any position where the candidate has a higher fit score than the current position, or any position where the candidate is a Recommended fit). From there, the software will automatically light up the Best Fit icon for any candidates that satisfy the stated criteria. By clicking on the icon you will see a list of all positions that fit the criteria. This high powered feature is designed to streamline a process that takes several steps today and make the hiring process more efficient while finding the best potential role for every candidate.
Quick Notes Drive Consistency in Hiring Logs
Quick Notes allow for a managed list of note options to be selected in addition to, or in place of, free form note taking. This option provides companies increased flexibility to allow recruiters and hiring managers to choose from a managed list of options when logging notes regarding a candidate. This feature is configured at the position level, so please contact your Client Account Manager if you are interested in enabling a specific set of notes options for one or more positions.
Updated Resource Library
The Resources feature is being updated with a new library of books and videos that reflect a more contemporary set of development resources. This functionality, located on the Behavioral Onboarding tab of the assessment report, provides a useful resource library of information that can be used by a new employee to help them leverage their behavioral strengths or bolster their awareness in an area of opportunity. This latest library was culled from the large array of development content available in the open marketplace and are representative of the behavioral attributes measured for all candidates/employees by PeopleAnswers. The resources featured on the page link you directly to amazon.com.
