In March, the US unemployment rate fell from 8.9 percent in February, to 8.8 percent in March. February's rate was the highest since May 2004. Most new jobs were created in the private sector, including the evergreen health industry. But despite all of this, economists say that the government is not doing enough to replace the 7.5 million jobs that were lost during the recession.
Economists also feel that the job outlook may be worsened by rising energy costs, that this will put a squeeze on household spending and business investments and may slow the pace of hiring.
