    The Daunting Problem Of Time Theft – How Do You Really Prevent It?

    There you are. Full time business owner, part time Sherlock Holmes ducking in the shadows and constantly looking over shoulders so you could keep tabs on your employees and make sure they aren’t engaging in time theft by arriving late/leaving early from work or taking longer breaks or lunch hours than they are allocated. Once an employee is caught, will the time theft problem go away with a few stern lectures, a slap on the wrist or maybe a suspension? Probably not.       John, I've been WFP for over 8-years now & I have found in most cases the usual suspect in time-theft is the company, not the employee. You also haven't mentioned the downside of biometric technology incl. employee disengagement, communication & privacy concerns. You also didn't disclose M2SYS is a biometric provider. 2/5

      Employer time-theft is a sociology argument & I'm limited on space (happy to take that one offline). For biometric risks that I mentioned + others a good piece is Ethics and Policy of Biometrics: Third International Conference on Ethics by Ajay Kumar, David Zhang (HK, Jan 2010). Education is about advising on positives & negatives. Declaring your personal interest is just ethical behaviour.

      Do not disagree that employee time theft is a sociological issue, but its also hard to refute that it costs employers millions of dollars per year. We focus on real time biometric software solutions to fix these problems to save money and resources with plenty of examples to share. Your resource on Ethics resource is interesting but unfortunately largely based on theory. I have amended the article above to comply with your suggestion of proper ethics. Thanks!
