Organizational culture is expressed in the relationships, structures and strategies of organization.
When assessing organizational culture a deeper or background interpretation is required to assign time, effort and resources to strategic, structural and relational issues.
Organization culture is a lead predictor of business success.
If you're working in a reactive or defensive culture, productivity is characterized the same. Takes more time, effort and resources to accomplish the work [10 Efforts = 1 Outcome < illustriative, not measured - yet).
Characteristics of reactive/defensive culture: leading appears as enforcing and using ones position; managing appears as allowing and approving; outwardly you appear like a Gambler or Competitor.
Whereas working in a proactive or generative culture, productivity is experienced differently. Less time, effort and resources is required for work accomplishment [1 Effort = 10 Outcomes < illustrative, not measured -yet].
Characteristics of proactive/generative culture: leading appears as enabling and educating; managing appears as aligning and navigating; and outwardly you appear like a Forecaster or Visionary
Therefore, it's important for managers to competently navigate organizational culture. That is, to enable the journey-based culture in which they are working. More important, is to competently map, manage and measure (navigate) organizational culture as 'shift happens'.
Your business success depends on…competently navigating your organizational culture.
Your organizational culture assessment and the management excellence required to ensure your culture infuses your productivity. Using a people-centred approach is critical! More important, it must be seamless and easy to apply. Your assessment must encourage and align staff performance improvement the day the data is collected.
