Solvate Raises $4 Million to Expand Work-in-the-Cloud Platform
Investment Supports Job Market Growth
New York, NY, Feb.15, 2011– Solvate.com, a platform that helps employers and independent professionals find each other and work together in the cloud, announced it has raised $4 million in Series B financing from Michael Paolucci, CEO of Solvate, RRE Ventures and DFJ Gotham. The investment will be used to enhance interfaces that promote a social protocol for remote work and expand their marketplace of clients and talent who use Solvate to establish productive work relationships online. Since closing Series A financing in August 2009, Solvate has facilitated thousands of remote work relationships on its trusted platform.
“With the rise of services from Google Docs and Microsoft Office Live, to Yammer and Chatter, people no longer need to be in the same office to work together effectively,” says Mr. Paolucci. “Those services support work among people who already know each other. Solvate facilitates work between people who heretofore have not met; we’re the trusted middleware between such parties to work from afar.”
Solvate’s diverse network of 1,000+ top U.S. based independent professionals are pre-qualified, catalogued, and under contract to Solvate, and accessible like never before. Using Solvate’s remote work tools, companies can expand their reach to top talent and retain high quality workers in a safe, transparent and accountable environment. Solvate’s tools lower the bar for communication between client and talent, making it easier than ever to start a cloud based work relationship. Solvate’s online time tracking tools give employers control over budgets and real-time transparency into the progress of their work, and Solvate handles both payment collection and disbursement, so that employer and contractor can stay focused on producing great work.
For freelancers who apply and are accepted into Solvate’s talent network, they enjoy nationwide exposure to businesses in need of their skills, as well as guaranteed payment for all work completed on the platform. Solvate has also optimized each talent profile with top search engines, indexing talent according to its proprietary lexicon of services and roles, and other faceted information of relevance to employers.
“With the traditional job market slow to rebound, we’re giving people a new way to establish ongoing, trusted professional relationships,” says Eric Wiesen, General Partner at RRE. “For employers, working in the cloud through Solvate is a great way to cut overhead and reach a broader, nationwide marketplace of talent. In the end, we think when given the right tools, working on demand and remotely will increase everyone’s productivity and quality of life.”
