This study conducted by Hewitt Associates evaluates current retirement programs, what portion of the U.S. workforce is “on track” to retire comfortable, and actions by employers and employees that could potentially improve the results. It also assesses the projected retirement resources at retirement versus financial needs during retirement.
The research found that employees who contribute to their savings plan over a full career are track to have retirement resources of 13.3 times pay at retirement age, 15% short of their retirement needs of 15.7 times pay.
