The Navigator is published by Greg Smith,
Lead Navigator, Chart Your Course International Inc.
View this newsletter on our website:
http://www.chartcourse.com/Enav-168.html
See the bottom of this newsletter to subscribe or to unsubscribe.
########################################
PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE LEAD NAVIGATOR
Have you ever heard someone say, "I hate working with you?" It is always a pleasure to work with people with you like. However, it is a nightmare when you have to work with people you don't. Some people seem to enjoy making others miserable. It is even worse when those negative feelings poison an entire team or department. As a leader, your credibility is at stake if you wait too long to take action or do nothing about it.
For those of you who may be working with a dysfunctional team, I encourage you to learn about our Dynamic Teambuilding workshop described below.
I will be attending and speaking at a conference in Shanghai, China, September 22-28. I also will visit the World Expo. If there are any Navigators who may want to meet up while in country, please let me know.
To your success,
Greg
President and Lead Navigator
########################################
Greg on Television
Click on this link to view a television interview filmed at the National SHRM conference in San Diego. Mentoring programs are one of the most effective tools in achieving business results. The authors of the book, War on Talent reported, "Of those who have had a highly helpful mentoring experience, 95 percent indicated it motivated them to do their very best, 88 percent said it made them less likely to leave their company, and 97 percent said it contributed to their success at the company."
Many organizations have discovered providing a mentor for high performing employees not only helps them settle into their job and company environment, but also contributes to a lower employee turnover rate and greater job satisfaction.
A mentor, basically, is someone who serves as a counselor or guide. Being asked to serve as a mentor is an honor. It indicates the company has faith in the person's abilities and trusts him or her to have a positive impact on the situation. The use of a mentor may be an informal, short-term situation or a more formal, long-term assignment.
Continued on website
http://www.chartcourse.com/article-mentoringprogram.html

########################################
Dynamic Teambuilding:
How to Enhance Communication and Build Effective Teams
Individual behavior styles and preferences have a direct impact on our interpersonal relationships in the workplace. Team members differ from each other in fundamental ways including their values, behaviors, talents, temperaments, wants and beliefs. Our workshop will help individuals understand each other better and appreciate the differences each person brings to the job. As a result, you will become a more successful leader and make interactions with others more rewarding and effective. The workshop incorporates a behavior assessment to give a more complete understanding of yourself and others. This program will unlock some of the mysteries in dealing with people on and off the job.
########################################
SUPER SUMMER SALE!
Fired Up! He is a dynamic and charismatic trainer and facilitator. Greg is excellent at establishing clear directions and explaining why we're doing what we're doing. He communicated the information in a clear and easy manner for me to learn and comprehend the material. He was also very patient and flexible with his time. Greg has a very warm and gracious spirit and is exceptionally helpful. Immediately following Greg's training I felt fully prepared and ready to tackle my first DISC facilitation assignment.
