Senate passes bill on former officeholders’ remuneration
The Senate on Thursday passed the bill for remuneration for former presidents, shutting out former military heads of state, Generals Yakubu Gowon, Muhammadu Buhari, Ibrahim Babangida and Abubakar Abdulsalami, from benefitting. The bill is among the backlog from the last Senate and transmitted to former President Olusegun Obasanjo for assent. But he could not assent on them before the expiration of his tenure in 2007.
