    “In the past few years HR’s image has received a good deal of negative press from the infamous article, “Why I hate HR,” to the McKenzie leadership report on HR in 2008 to the recent diatribe at a major Finance conference by a well know PhD proclaiming HR is ruining businesses, and on. For HR professionals, this is ugly stuff – real ugly. And the alarming trends of deep sacking of HR leadership over the past two years clearly supports a willingness by business leaders to clear house in HR. Various reports claim that somewhere between 31% to 37% of senior HR management has been terminated over that time period………”

      Is it that HR is headed for extinction, or that HR practitioners are now being forced to do what they've been advised to do for a decade - and that is to become strategic and business-focused in their area? I would agree that "old" HR is disappearing, but I think a more well-rounded, sophisticated HR is taking its place.

      HR is alive - but only if it can add value to an organization. My consukting usually involves showing HR management the "value" in being an employee advocate while supporting management goals. Not an easy "balance."

      Sorry, Dan, but "I ain't buyin it!"

      Those of us who are making an impact don't pay much attention to this stuff. Are there "bad" HR people? Sure.

      But show me a profession and I can show you "negativity" about it.

      Yes, it's OK to "be aware," but I'll continue to focus on the positive.
