With the advent of social media, many employers are checking out job candidates' profiles online before calling them in for an interview,and some base their decision on what they find on Google, Facebook, or Twitter. In addition, most jobs, as much as 80%, are not posted on job boards and many jobs are acquired through pre-existing connections.
A Web profile is the new resume, in my opinion. A personal blog, for example, can give a more accurate representation of a person's life, career, attitude, and skill set than a resume can.
Some jobs, executive level jobs, for instance, still do require a formal resume. But do you suppose that this will change in the future?
Will today's recruiters and hiring managers still be filling jobs via resumes 10 years from now?
