Amidst layoffs and cutbacks, some companies chose not to hold lavish holiday parties this year or were simply unable to do so. Instead of hosting a lavish dinner party, one company in Calgary chose to gather at a local soup kitchen to help prepare and serve meals.

Stories like this are heartwarming but they also remind us that there are many ways to improve employee engagement and team spirit.
