    Rockland leaders launch effort to have payroll tax repealed


    NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef Tuesday announced an effort to have the MTA payroll tax repealed.

    The one-third of one percent tax on all payrolls in the Mid-Hudson counties of Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Orange and Dutchess, is part of the MTA bailout as approved by the state legislature and governor.     Gang members accused of $654K bank scam
