Rockland leaders launch effort to have payroll tax repealed
NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef Tuesday announced an effort to have the MTA payroll tax repealed.
The one-third of one percent tax on all payrolls in the Mid-Hudson counties of Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Orange and Dutchess, is part of the MTA bailout as approved by the state legislature and governor. It will add millions to business and government payrolls in the region. more
