As
Freeman Dyson explained ; - “Life is defined as a material system that can acquire, store, process, and use information to organize its activities. In this broad view, the essence of life is information, but information is not synonymous with life. To be alive, a system must not only hold information but process and use it. It is the active use of information, and not the passive storage, that constitutes life.”
Well, the definition of social networking in my opinion: - it’s the Internet-powered relationship management medium, facilitating interconnectedness between people, through real time information sharing by constantly delivering updates on the daily activities of the users.
Why we share information? Because, we have evolved on the platform of social learning, communicating and reading the intentions of others. Developments are the the products of collective cognition; created by putting the heads together. The crucial difference between human being and the great apes — chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans — is they communicate almost exclusively for the purpose of getting others to do what they want, where is we do it for sharing information and helping others.
Recent evolutionary models have demonstrated what politicians have long known: the best way to get people to collaborate and to think like a group is to identify an enemy and charge that “they” threaten “us.” The remarkable human capacity for cooperation thus seems to have evolved mainly for interactions within the group.
If we look at the positive sides of this invention,I think social networking sites are providing collaborative platforms for defining constructive common goals through information exchange ,capitalizing on our enormous capacity to share and grow together. Why I said exchange, because whenever we publish something, we do expect our friends to react to that and publish their own comments .Hope you agree!
Now , the most important part of this information exchange activity in my opinion is , controlling what we are publishing, for whom and how to keep tract of the process itself.I call it “Introspection Of Shared Information” , both our own and others as well.If we do it at macro level for life itself , why not at micro level for what constitutes our life…Sets of information exchange on various topic through out the lifetime.
Frankly speaking, I myself have lost track of ,what I have been publishing in numerous sites and how, I have been reacting to various information provided by other. Is it not important to review that process , at least for the purpose of monitoring our mental growth over a period of time.I think , it is.How we do that ? This quest put me on an extensive search for some tools over the Internet and the outcome is :- Watch out for my next article on this subject!
In the meantime , you also think it over ,identify some means to do that and share with others.
