According to HR Solutions’ National Normative Database, 77 percent of professionals in the education industry believe that their job provides them with opportunity to learn new skills, while the national norm for all industries reports that only 69 percent of surveyed professionals find this opportunity in their position.

These survey results show a continuous growth of new skills among academic professionals, which is a good sign for the industry. In the ever-evolving realm of education, the enhancement of workers’ skills acts as vital in keeping up with new technology, whether it is to be taught about or to be used in improving the act of educating. Although professionals in every industry must be able to adapt to technological advancements, educators hold an especially important role in doing so. They need to not only learn how to use current innovations, but how to truly understand them, in order to educate others.
