    Dashboards: Ticket to Success in Gauging Work Performance

    As the saying goes, a team is only as strong as its weakest link. With organizations fully dependent on their employees to drive company performance, it is critical that each individual is held accountable for his/her work. Maximizing employee output, while fostering an environment of accountability, should be at the top of all HR executives’ 2009 “to-do” list. Businesses that clearly identify and articulate their strategic goals to employees, and track if and when these goals are being met, are well positioned to compete and succeed in today’s highly volatile marketplace.

    Though many HR departments have mastered the art of communicating their company’s corporate strategy, their downfall lies in their inability to track each employee’s individual role in the execution of the business’s various functions. Without the capability to track employee performance across the enterprise, HR managers lack the means to monitor the effectiveness of their company’s overall health, negating the ultimate purpose of the strategy.

    Most companies have identified particular data sets, as well as measurement techniques, that provide insight into an employee’s performance. However, many businesses lack the tools needed to monitor this information continuously and easily. A solution to this problem can be found in visually rich dashboards, which allow HR and operational managers to identify trends at-a-glance and drill down into data sets to facilitate timely, well-informed decision-making.
