    The Obstacle to Effective Mentoring/Coaching
    Jim Sellner
    Biggest Obstacle to Mentor/Coach Effectiveness:

The Tyranny of  Talent;  Experience; &  Knowledge.

Leads to Being short-tempered & critical of new people

Cynical - "ya can't find good people anymore!"

Resentment    toward  others who are deemed to be "dumb."

Usually seen in people who are task-specific unconsciously competent (they’re really good at their job or profession) – they think everyone should know what they know.
They have forgotten how they got here.

    Result:
         People turn off, then disenage.
         The best talent leaves.
         The least talented stay.

No evidence will ever convince me
    Of the truth that I
Don’t want to see, or accept.

    If I want to improve
    I must be willing
    To open my doors
    Of perception.
