Rockport Healthcare Announces Affiliation with MagnaCare
Agreement Expands National Network of 400,000 Occupational Health Providers Focused Exclusively on Workers' Compensation
Company Growth Brings Stability to a Volatile Marketplace
HOUSTON, Texas (September 25, 2008) Rockport Healthcare, a national preferred provider organization (PPO) focused exclusively on workers' compensation, has announced a network partner strategic alliance agreement with New York-based MagnaCare Administrative Services, Inc. The company's PPO network in New York adds 33,000 physicians, more than 240 hospitals and 8,400 ancillary providers to Rockport's national network of more than 400,000 providers focused exclusively on treating workers' compensation injuries and illnesses.
The move further solidifies Rockport's position as a singularly focused workers' compensation provider offering national coverage.
Within 18 months, the company has grown from a regional provider to one with networks in all 50 states and offices in Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Missouri.
"We will continue to add these provider relationships to strengthen our already comprehensive national network. Our emphasis is to combine our direct contracts with strong local and state-specific networks, said Doug Markham, Chief Operating Officer, Rockport Healthcare Group. Markham, a recognized industry leader who previously developed the Focus workers' compensation PPO under Concentra, joined the firm 18 months ago with the charge of recapitalizing the company and expanding it into a national player. "The exclusive workers' compensation focus of our providers and our network is critically important to our clients whose priority is a fast, safe return-to-work for their injured employees.
Based in Houston, Rockport weathered the ravages of Hurricane Ike with no disruption in service, thanks to its dedicated staff, and superior technology and communications systems.
"We recognize that in today's chaotic marketplace, clients want assurances of a strong, dependable network of providers that deliver results, noted Markham. Therefore, we have also developed the capability of seamlessly converting data to our platform, so that companies can be transitioned to our network quickly and efficiently.
According to industry analysts, companies that seek to integrate work comp functions with group health have struggled, due to the unusual nature of workers' compensation.
As workers' compensation specialists, Rockport understands the importance of strong data integrity among providers, including accurate, up-to-date provider contact information, which speeds up the appointment scheduling process. As a result, injured workers obtain medical visits quicker and their return-to-work is expedited. Rockport offers access to key providers for third party administrators (TPAs), managed care oganizations, employers and carriers looking to control rising healthcare costs related to the treatment of workplace injuries.
