I am a big fan of facebook. Although thought of predominately as something our teenagers and younger friends use, I think it has major implications on all of us. Here are some of the simple things I use it for:

1)       Keeping an eye on my kids (don’t tell them)
2)       Keeping in touch with clients and friends that are far away. It’s nice to combine a personal touch and know about our friends than just what we see of them in the corporate world. I love pictures of Jason at Knowledge Infusion with his kids. You don’t find those on the KI website. Looking at pictures of old friends and their families
3)       Networking with like-minded individuals or at least comparing brutal travel schedules with other friends when they update what they are doing now. Mine usually is done at an airport waiting for a friend, while others are looking forward to a glass of wine.

Here are some of the things I should probably be doing on it:


1) As a business owner I could also buy targeted advertising and lists
2)       Posting our new job opportunities and connecting with friends for referrals
In this funny web world it’s weird how old habits (habits more than three years) are hard to change. I always use google to search, Yahoo for company financial data, and news.com as my favorite site. Each day I must visit expedia or Travelocity for travel. Linked in - for hard to answer questions .. and more business connections. Facebook is definitely the destination site for personal stuff. I am publishing a family website and have recently published a couple of ibooks which I think are the neatest things in the last 10 years to hit the market.
