I'm a long term HR person and recently ran into a request, that was a first and that I thought would be covered under one of our policies, but surprise!
Here's the jist from an employee........A few of us would like to use a conference room during lunch to discuss Christianity.
We have a typical non-solictation and a non-discrimination policy, but neither fit very well.
We've discussed with the group that we'd have to accomodate others if we allowed theirs, such as: excuse the language..atheist, anti Jewish, skin heads, etc. We explained that our conference rooms are for business and that we were not against theirs or others beliefs, but that we could not accomodate their request. We discussed that they should not solicte people to join them, as well, and that they could have thier private discussions over lunch or breaks, if they did not infringe upon other peoples beliefs or private time.
They seemed to understand, but I'm still looking for some good policy language that might help.
