The Power of Intuition to Inspire

Several times in my life intuition has acted as a beacon for inspiration and led me to explore new directions and new capabilities. Sometimes it has shown up as a dream, other times as a flash of insight, as a loving energy that empowered words from my heart, even other times as a peak experience or as some would call, an epiphany. Most times it appeared, seemingly uninvited, without any expectation on my part. The only thing I did was pay attention to it, listen and act.

In one, a dream I was shown a pending re-organization in my work, whose announcement would follow in reality some 9 months to 1 year later. The insight I experienced in that dream enabled me to choose a new direction in my career well in advance.

Another inspiration that appeared as the sound of heart-spoken prose led years later to creating a children’s book “The Children of Vision-peace” in 1999. This story about children who gathered in dreams to create a new world was read at a UN Children’s Conference to 400 child delegates and recommended as a post 9/11 education resource to support peace studies. A few weeks ago this and a sister project “The Hundred Years of Peace Project”, which was revealed to me in an insight last August, received the blessing of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

On another occasion a peak experience turned into the inauguration of a method to induce intuition and inspiration at will, something I and many others never knew existed. This inspired moment later became Intuita, my training company, Intuita MindWare, now a tool to teach others to access their intuition in life and business.

While it’s true we don’t fully understand the mechanics of intuition and inspiration, we can certainly relate to the fact that it often produces fruitful results - like understanding a colleague or client better, knowing good timing from bad or discerning a successful strategy from a faulty one.

For leaders, the inspired voice and presence of intuition is one to keep close contact with. Leaders who do are more able to sense a change in the market or in their organization that can be critical for success. Leaders who don’t are sourcing from considerably less resourcefulness. Neglecting intuition is not an option for the wise.

All of us, and I include myself here, need to develop confidence in following our intuition and being receptive to it on a continuing basis. In a world chock full of information and opinions the “silence” of an inspired mind speaks loudly.

Clearly the trajectory that led us to this point in time is not the trajectory that will take us to the next. With global citizenry, a global economy, a sustainable environment and the new ecology of business, becoming wiser and more aware is an advantage.

In our role as leaders we are adapting to a changing consciousness, a changing level of engagement in our vision and new expectations of the workforce and our clients. We are adapting to market changes at speeds unheard of since the dawn of industrializaton. Simultaneously we are becoming a post-industrial society. We must be inspired, clear and determined as we take defined steps to create successful outcomes, outcomes that will be measured differently than in the past. We inspire others by our actions, by our living examples of integrity and creativity and innovation. This is a tall order. But we are up to it. Right energy rightly used creates more energy.

The purpose of vision is to inspire you to create it.
The purpose of your heart is to know what visions are worthy for you to create.
The purpose of mind is to translate vision into stages of reality.
The purpose of speech is to share your vision and other's vision.
The purpose of meditation is to deepen your vision and self-knowledge.
The purpose of intuition is to remind you of your creations.
The purpose of action is for you to be in the world as your vision is in your heart.
The purpose of intelligence is to enable you to discern choice from cause and circumstance.
The purpose of children is for you to aspire to and become a human being worthy of respect.
