Lifelong learning is a concept that many commit themselves to. What we choose to spend time learning defines our abilities, skills and talents, just as much as what we refuse to learn can limit us.
A recent Harvard Business School Working Knowledge Article provides an excerpt from the book Workforce Crisis by Ken Dychtwald, Tamara J. Erickson, and Robert Morison. The article begins by stating that "Lifelong learning has advanced from a nice-to-have to a business essential, write the authors of Workforce Crisis."

From my perspective, learning, growth and development should never be separate from performance management, but linking the two has sometimes been a challenge.
