Responses have been collected and analyzed from the first round of requests for participation in the HR.com Performance Management survey. We will continue to keep the survey open; however, the preliminary results offer some interesting information. For example, approximately half of the initial respondents indicated that their performance management process is consistent across the organization. The rest of the respondents indicated that their process varies depending upon department, division or manager or has no consistency at all. A remaining 5% indicated that a performance management process is non existent at their organization. Encouraging is the fact that 72% of responding organizations include ongoing goal review and feedback from managers as part of the performance management process with 71% of respondents indicating all employees participate in their performance management process. Additionally, 73% indicated that they felt employees saw the existing process as fair. However, less encouraging is the finding that only 36% see performance management as essential (although another 30% indicated it is seen as fairly important).
How important is the performance management process seen at your organization?
