Next week in Washington D.C. the FOSE show will focus on the needs of the Government sector. I've talked to a lot of people over the years who have tried to crack the proverbial nut and sell to the Federal government. Some have been very successful, some not so much.
What the secret is I'm still not quite so sure but after next week I hope to have much better insight in to this mysterious world and have some answers. I'm also hoping to gain better insight as to what the Goverment in general plans to do about some of the workforce challenges they are facing and will be facing over the next few years.
My guess at this point is that their challenges aren't that much different than the private sector. Obviously there are inherent differences in the way decisions are made but aside from that I'm not so sure the pain points are that much different given the way that things have gone lately.
Suffice it to say that next week will be a learning experience in more ways than one. We hope to gain more insight in to the way government works. But we will also hope to be able to open the HR practitioners eyes in this sector that they can in fact tackle many of the same challenges that the private sector tackles in much the same way.
