I had the pleasure of reading many of his books over the years and became a fan when I met him about 10 years ago by happenstance at an airport. We didn´t say much more than a few passing words as this awestruck fan had just enough of my wits about me to say "Hello, pleasure to meet you sir" before moving to my seat on the same plane. His demeanour and presence was surprisingly humble and pleasant as I'm sure he was constantly being recognized wherever he went. I would have paid handsomely to switch seats with the person next to him for that short 1-hour flight.

I had just finished reading one of his articles in the Wall Street Journal and even though he was well in to his 80´s at the time his vision of the business world reminded me of just how much I didn´t know. It was quite the humbling experience.

Now that he´s gone we look back in awe at his contributions and wonder if we´ll ever see someone like him again. All of the contemporary experts and pundits out there have drawn something from his genius and have spun his words to suit their own mandates and agendas. But as hard as they all try none will come close to the brilliance of simplicity that is Peter Drucker.
