I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are enjoying the anticipation and thrill that seems to come along with the cooler weather and falling leaves. The HR industry is certainly abuzz as seasonal hiring begins in the retail industries and part-time jobs open up as kids return to school.

Here at HR.com we're busy - and excited - for our big Employers of Excellence National Conference 2007. Once again it's being held at the fabulous Red Rock Casino Resort Spa and we hope you are one of the many HR solutions providers we'll see there from October 22nd - 24th!

I know it's hard sometimes to figure out which tradeshows to attend. Most of us flock to SHRM but in many cases, real results come from quality not quantity. It isn't always easy to stand out in a crowd and the quick follow-up after events, require a massive sales force that sometimes isn't always there. The real return on investment doesn't come from how many cards you gather, it really comes down to how many sales you make. Just another factor to think about as tradeshow planning begins for 2008 ...

    Happy September!

    P.S.
Ask me how you can participate in our first virtual conference for free or click here for more details

Amy joined the HR.com sales team in February of 2007 after graduating from Seneca College. Since her recent promotion to Regional Sales Rep, Amy has developed many new relationships with clients across the globe, and enjoys the opportunity to travel and meet them face-to-face.

When not at work, Amy spends her free time in the fan section at as many sporting events she can schedule, catching the latest movie of the week, or walking the busy streets of Toronto. She is currently working hard to treat herself to an exotic once in a lifetime trip. Destination unknown.

It seems that every time you turn on the television, radio or open a newspaper these days all you hear about is how social networking websites are costing employers billions of dollars in lost productivity. But savvy marketers - and companies - are quickly learning that social networking is not their worst enemy but their best friend.

For many marketers online advertising - banner ads, button ads, pop-unders, pop-unders - are seen as an exercise in branding. We stretch our creative muscles just enough to let online visitors recognize our logo, our name and, ideally, what we do. But just like exercise, most of us get some snazzy new running shoes, jump on the treadmill and despite the best of intentions, fall off the wagon and quickly return to our couch potato ways. But what if we changed the way we thought about online advertising and kept on running? read more

Stay tuned for next month's newsletter for the results. It's a great way to see what your peers in the HR solutions community are up to.

Last month we asked you if you had ever participated in a virtual event and the results are in:

    Yes - 57.1%
    No - 42.9%

It's interesting to see that the results are almost evenly split. With more and more remote employees and more and more of us too busy to get out of the office for lunch - never mind a day - we anticipate seeing a lot more attendance at virtual events in the future.
